BC Datta has around 40 years of experience with a significant part of it in the automotive sector. He was with Hyundai Motor India as Vice President – Corporate Affairs and where he established robust relations with State and Government bodies, representing Hyundai in all Trade Bodies, Committees & Panels. In the past, he also has extensive experience in taxation and corporate affairs and performed many leadership roles in Toyota Kirloskar Motor and BPL Sanyo Technologies.

Datta  is an active participant with FICCI and CII where he also heads the committee on ease of doing business in the country. He is also a member of the TN government panel on EV and also in Kerala Panel on Hydrogen Fuel Cells.

Datta obtained his B.Com from Karnataka University and LLB from Bangalore University. Datta and his wife have a son who is a Doctor, working in Chennai. Datta enjoys listening to music and travelling. He has authored books on VAT and GST which have garnered many accolades.
