Co-Founder and CEO, Attero Recycling Pvt Ltd

Mr. Nitin Gupta is the CEO and Co-founder of Attero Recycling Pvt Ltd, which is India’s largest electronic asset management company with expertise in developing eco-friendly reuse and recycling solutions for electronics. He is regarded as a visionary and a technology expert with proficiency in bringing cleantech to India.

Nitin is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, with a strong foundation in Engineering. He further went on to the prestigious NYU, Stern, and London Business School to study business & marketing.

Following the mantra of “it's not waste, until it's wasted” and with a strong desire to make a notable change in the cleantech space, Nitin founded Attero in 2008.

E-waste is growing in India at the rate of 10%. Major recycling of e -waste is carried out in the non-formal sector using primitive and hazardous methods. With the objective of Rethink, Redesign, Restore and Reuse materials, Attero Recycling processes more than 144 lakh metric tons of e-waste and 1 1000 metric tonnes of lithium-ion battery waste every year. The extraction efficiency of the process adopted by Attero Recycling for lithium-ion batteries is the best in the world. Through its world- class process, Attero Recycling has also extracted valuable elements such as pure Gold, Silver, Palladium, Tin, Copper, Aluminium etc.

Nitin has been the invigorating force behind the growth and expansion of the company. Under his leadership, Attero Recycling in the last 14 years has raised a total of $30M funding over four rounds from institutional backers such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Granite Hill India Opportunity Ventures, Kalaari Capital, and International Finance Corporation, which is the private investment arm of the World Bank. As a technology enthusiast, he also introduced disruptive technologies in India which were recognized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and UNFCCC. Attero has applied for more than 200 patents and has been awarded over 45 global patents to date.

At Attero Recycling, Nitin’s responsibilities revolve around envisioning organizational goals and creating plans & strategies that will help the company in achieving these goals. Nitin follows a more collaborative and entrepreneurial approach to business and the workplace, which is instrumental in the growth of the brand. He intends to establish Attero as the largest urban mining company in the world.
